28th August 2010. At last a victory against the road safety industry who would have us all driving rubber cars at 10 kph if they could. In only one of the two countries in the world that enforces push bike riders to wear helmets a woman here in NSW has won a court case for not wearing a helmet, based on lack of evidence that they actually are safer. In fact recent evidence indicates that in Australia the forced use of helmets is a deterrent to riding pushbikes.

27th August 2010. A quiet month as I sit back gobsmacked at the ‘spin’ of the two major parties in our election system and their contempt for the voter. Of course the thing about our anachronistic westminster system is that only the winners get a say in government for the next three years whilst the almost 50% that voted for the other side have no say. In the Swiss system for example , each side would be represented by ministers in proportion to the votes obtained ie all voters are represented in government and leaders would be rotated.
