Democracy it aint…

27th August 2010. A quiet month as I sit back gobsmacked at the ‘spin’ of the two major parties in our election system and their contempt for the voter. Of course the thing about our anachronistic westminster system is that only the winners get a say in government for the next three years whilst the almost 50% that voted for the other side have no say. In the Swiss system for example , each side would be represented by ministers in proportion to the votes obtained ie all voters are represented in government and leaders would be rotated.

‘“A Westminster Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where fifty-one percent of the people may take away the rights of the other forty-nine.

Heaven forbid there should be anything so fair and logical in Australia!

You’re talking about – as 60 Minutes pointed out some years ago – “THE most over-governed country in the world” which is rapidly becoming a dictatorship.

I don’t see any politicians offering to step down and correct these ridiculous imbalances; the salary and perks are far too good for them, even long after they leave the job (a gross financial burden forced upon taxpayers until the the extravagant leeches die).

As the voting public no longer have a say in who runs this joke of a nation (politically speaking), the only thing left to do is move overseas.

    Switzerland’s looking good, I hear…
